Friday I met up with Clara for a coffee until she had to go to work and I went shopping and was actually quite successful, I also stuck to my “plan”. You can see the result of my shopping here. And the shirt I had mentioned in my last post is this one.

Today the weather was really great so I decided to go to the beach. Due to my getting up extremely late (errm, 2pm) I didn’t get there until the late afternoon, which seems a bit regrettable now but better than nothing. I still got to enjoy the sunshine for a couple of hours. I had brought a book with me that I have to read for class by Tuesday, Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison, but I ended up not reading much of it, I found people-watching much more interesting. With people actually in the water [which must have been pretty damn cold] it almost felt like summer. I really should enjoy my next four months here before I move back to Munich which is so so far from the sea.

I also discovered that my sunglasses make sunsets look so much prettier. Case in point:

The “original”.

Taken through one of my sunglasses’ lenses.

By the way, since today, there are four of us living in this apartment. Today a new girl, María, moved in. Jordi had told us [or Anais actually] via text message [gee thanks!] that we would be getting a new roommate this month. I am not particularly happy that he did not inform us of this before the decision was made and that we never got to meet the new girl [or have any say] before she moved in. María does seem nice so far, and we will finally be getting wireless internet [which Jordi had promised us, i.e. Anais, half a year ago, but what can I say, he's not the most reliable guy] because she needs it for work, but she does smoke [which was a big no when we originally were looking for two new roommates in November, remember, we had actually found someone for the room María now lives in, but then Jordi changed his mind about renting it out. I just hope she will stick to smoking in her room, like we agreed on [and since her room is like at the opposite end of the apartment from mine, I hope my room will be "safe"].

This weekend is a long one. Tomorrow is a holiday here - Día de la Constitución [Day of the Constitution (I know, Spanish is such a hard language, haha!)]. My roommates are both going to be gone for the weekend, so I will have the apartment to myself, which is nice on the one hand because always being around people can be a bit annoying, but on the other hand, four days at a time usually leave me feeling a little lonely. I had been looking at flights to Sevilla for this weekend to visit Flora, but they are way too expensive because of the four-day weekend. Anyway, I will probably be busy enough having to write a paper and read two books and a play this weekend.

On Monday I bought a mobile hard drive, I even went all the way to the Diagonal Mar mall (that was really close to the apartment I used to live in), because they have a Media Markt which tends to be cheaper than FNAC, and I ended up getting the one I bought €10 cheaper there than FNAC. I got a 2.5″ 160GB hard drive by LaCie for €79 which I picked over a 3.5″ 320GB one by the same company for the same price, because it is so much lighter and smaller and does not rely on external power. My laptop is still working as normal, and while I find it very strange, I have been using it as normal for the past few days now. I am very careful about always backing up my files to the external hard drive now, but I will use it until I can have it fixed in Germany in two weeks.

Last night I went to see Hafner’s Paradise at the movie theater. There was only one other person beside me at the theater seeing this movie, and it is kind of sad how not a lot of people go see independent productions like this at smaller theaters. But the documentary was really well-done. It was interesting to see how a person can be in such denial over the holocaust, and also how a lot of former SS nazis live in Spain, absolutely undisturbed by the Spanish government even nowadays (post-Franco).

By the way, apparently I worried a few of my friends with my last post. I am doing okay, the post was just specifically about one person (and I think they don’t read this blog, so no, it’s not you). I am just very disappointed by this person, but that does not mean I am feeling completely miserable all day long. So don’t worry about me, but thank you for caring, it means a lot. I did not mean to scare anyone.
