Today I met up with the Tex-Pat for the first time. We went to the Brückenfest [bridge fest], it was a blast. We really hit it off, and it didn’t feel like we just met for the first time or awkward in some way at all. We wandered around the bridges, ate some yummy German junk food [bratwurst etc.], and talked for hours. These are the best things about blogging, you get to meet people you would have otherwise not met and make new friends. I am sure we will hang out again soon!
I also took some pictures at the Brückenfest which is part of the celebrations for Munich’s 850th anniversary. That’s right, my hometown turned 850 years old this year! Throughout the summer there are festivities on several weekends, and all kinds of activities going on. This was the first time I went to any of them, though.
Some random pictures from today …

I have no idea why they were dressed up like that, but I think the cellphone makes it all the more bizarre.

Lots of people out on the streets
Yesterday I went to the sneak preview at the Cinema with Lissy. They have that every Friday night, and you get to see a movie that hasn’t been released in Germany yet, but you don’t know which one it is until it started. Yesterday’s movie was The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. Not a movie I would have picked to see but it was fun and entertaining.
By the way, the interview for the internship is on Thursday! Cross your fingers please!
First off, the other day, I created a new e-mail address to use just for this blog, so if you want to e-mail me [about a post, or whatever] please use that e-mail address from now on. It is earthtobellablog [at] gmail [dot] com. You can also find it in the sidebar and on the ‘About’ page.
Today [Thursday] I finally went to Sitges. It was a sunny day so I decided to go to one of the places on my list. Originally I wanted to go to Tarragona but I ended up going to bed really late and not being able to sleep for another couple of hours so there was no way I would have been able to get up early enough to go to Tarragona. Sitges is closer and a small town with not that much to see so I thought that would be better for going to for just a few hours.
Anna had told me that I should go to Sitges on a sunny day because there is really not that much there besides the beach, and really, she wasn’t exaggerating. It is a small town, that is really touristy - one tourity store next to another, mostly hotels, and of course tourists. The beach was nice, and a few buildings were nice to look at, but other than that, to be honest, it is not that special. I think I spent about three hours there, walking along the beach [the water was cold!], lying in the sun a little and wandering around the streets of Sitges.
Nevertheless, of course I took some pictures anyway.
As usual, the rest can be seen on Flickr.
Ever since I finished that paper on Wednesday early morning? I have done nothing. Well, I may have done something, but nothing worth mentioning or productive. I have not touched any of my school books or notes, and I still have two papers to write by Sunday [they're not due then but Monday I need to start studying for my first final].
I have also not gone on any day trips [to Girona or Sitges or wherever] because the weather is still crappy. Meanwhile back home in Germany it is over 30°C [85°F] because you know, as of this spring, Germany is the country with the nice weather, and Spain only gets the crappy weather. I do have to admit that the cooler, overcast weather [with around 20°C/70°F] is better for running, but that is the only thing it is good for.
But anyway, enough of the weather, it seems all I ever talk about lately, so let’s talk about food! Today I made fruit salad. And even though the weather is not at all summer-ish, the ingredients for my fruit salad were. And that makes me happy. Because I love summer fruit. Making fruit salat is a bit of a pain because you have to chop all these fruits [using cherries and grapes with seeds make it even worse] but the result is so worth it. It was absolutely delicious.
It made for a great afternoon snack and dessert after dinner [pizza margherita, yum!], and I believe there is even some more left over in the fridge.
And while we are talking about fruit, I would have never thought that fruit juice and milk would taste good together, but there is this beverage brand here called Funciona and their beverages are actually really tasty and refreshing.
By the way, I have finally decided to become a bit more active on 20-Something Bloggers, and have added some of you on there, but I am not sure if I have missed any. Please let me know if you are a member so I can add you (you can find me here). And also let me know if you are on Twitter and I haven’t added you there yet (find me here).
You may have noticed [or not] that all of a sudden the amount of posts on my blog has doubled. That is because I decided to import the posts from my old blog [the one I had before I got the domain earthtobella.com]. I also decided to link to the even older posts that I backed up to my [first] LiveJournal account at one point. [Random tidbit of information: I created my first LiveJournal account in September 2001, yes, I've been a blogger for that long already!] So that means you can now read all my blog posts going back to December 2004, if you want. Just click on the month you want to access in the sidebar. Took me quite a while to figure out how to import my old posts & comments [and I did not manage to import the categories, so I had to sort all the posts again]. I also had to re-upload [or find on Flickr] all the pictures from all of the blog posts between December 2004 and October 2007. Took me several hours but I finally finished everything a little bit ago.
Now on to the meme. This is the voice post meme I had originally wanted to do way back in the end of November. But then my laptop melted a little, and I never got around to doing it. I just remembered it recently as I was thinking it would be fun to make a voice post instead of always typing, because wouldn’t it be cool to hear my raspy voice?] Then I was wondering what I’d talk about, and this meme answers precisely that question. Here it goes …
If you want to post this meme as well, here are the questions.
I just did some online “shopping”:
- I booked a hostel in Valencia for May 1st to 4th. I decided I will be staying three nights instead of two to give me a little more time in the city. The three nights will cost me €48 which is not bad at all. I still have to book the bus trip which will cost €46.27 [round trip] so this will be a relatively cheap trip. [Yeah, yeah, of course you have to add some more money for admission fees, food, etc. but I hope it will stay relatively inexpensive.]
- I also booked a flight from Barcelona to Sevilla on June 14th with Clickair for €52.04 [including fees] and a flight from Granada back to Barcelona with the same company for the same price. So the “round trip” is costing me just a little over €100 which is very cheap. When I first looked for flights about two or three weeks ago it would have been around €20 cheaper but oh well.
I have looked for hostels in the cities I will be visiting, and if I stick to the amount of nights per city that I have planned for now, the eleven nights will cost me around €200-230 depending on which hostels I choose. I will probably book the hostels soon as well, but I want to talk to a friend who might join me for part of the trip first, and make sure I am happy with the amount of time spent in each city.
I will definitely be in Granada for my birthday, and I have been thinking that it would be really nice to visit the Alhambra on my birthday. As soon as I know if Ruben is going to come with me I will buy a ticket for the Alhambra for June 23rd.
I’m so excited!
By the way, my little trip to Sitges tomorrow isn’t going to happen as it is supposed to rain. I will have to go another day when the weather is good [maybe Saturday or Sunday or next week].
Oh, and I added a threaded comment plug-in to my blog, which means you can now directly reply to comments! Hooray for plug-ins and for Wordpress!
