SPF: Your tribute

This week’s SPF theme is ‘Your tribute’. I must admit I did not really know what to do with this theme, and I am still not sure if I am doing this right, but anyway, here it goes.

SPF: Your tribute

This is a picture I took at a concert of the band Lifehouse in June 2003 [hence the bad quality, this was pre-digital camera for me]. I first became a fan of them in early 2001 [thanks to Randy, a good friend, who introduced me to their music] and I think I listened to their first album No Name Face more than any other album. Lifehouse meant and means so much to me, not just for their music which is amazing, but because it got me in touch with many people via their official message board. That message board vanished years ago, but our contact hasn’t: I am still in touch with many and some have become good friends. I also know that a few [sometimes intercontinental] relationships have been formed by people who first met via that message board which is beautiful. All that is why Lifehouse will always have a special place in my heart.

So, did you play?

I finally went to Sitges

First off, the other day, I created a new e-mail address to use just for this blog, so if you want to e-mail me [about a post, or whatever] please use that e-mail address from now on. It is earthtobellablog [at] gmail [dot] com. You can also find it in the sidebar and on the ‘About’ page.

Today [Thursday] I finally went to Sitges. It was a sunny day so I decided to go to one of the places on my list. Originally I wanted to go to Tarragona but I ended up going to bed really late and not being able to sleep for another couple of hours so there was no way I would have been able to get up early enough to go to Tarragona. Sitges is closer and a small town with not that much to see so I thought that would be better for going to for just a few hours.

Anna had told me that I should go to Sitges on a sunny day because there is really not that much there besides the beach, and really, she wasn’t exaggerating. It is a small town, that is really touristy - one tourity store next to another, mostly hotels, and of course tourists. The beach was nice, and a few buildings were nice to look at, but other than that, to be honest, it is not that special. I think I spent about three hours there, walking along the beach [the water was cold!], lying in the sun a little and wandering around the streets of Sitges.

Nevertheless, of course I took some pictures anyway.

A lazy week

Ever since I finished that paper on Wednesday early morning? I have done nothing. Well, I may have done something, but nothing worth mentioning or productive. I have not touched any of my school books or notes, and I still have two papers to write by Sunday [they're not due then but Monday I need to start studying for my first final].

I have also not gone on any day trips [to Girona or Sitges or wherever] because the weather is still crappy. Meanwhile back home in Germany it is over 30°C [85°F] because you know, as of this spring, Germany is the country with the nice weather, and Spain only gets the crappy weather. I do have to admit that the cooler, overcast weather [with around 20°C/70°F] is better for running, but that is the only thing it is good for.

Fruit Salad - Ingredients But anyway, enough of the weather, it seems all I ever talk about lately, so let’s talk about food! Today I made fruit salad. And even though the weather is not at all summer-ish, the ingredients for my fruit salad were. And that makes me happy. Because I love summer fruit. Making fruit salat is a bit of a pain because you have to chop all these fruits [using cherries and grapes with seeds make it even worse] but the result is so worth it. It was absolutely delicious.

It made for a great afternoon snack and dessert after dinner [pizza margherita, yum!], and I believe there is even some more left over in the fridge.

And while we are talking about fruit, I would have never thought that fruit juice and milk would taste good together, but there is this beverage brand here called Funciona and their beverages are actually really tasty and refreshing.

By the way, I have finally decided to become a bit more active on 20-Something Bloggers, and have added some of you on there, but I am not sure if I have missed any. Please let me know if you are a member so I can add you (you can find me here). And also let me know if you are on Twitter and I haven’t added you there yet (find me here).

I can has cheezburger?

catsYou all probably already know I Can Has Cheezburger?, a blog to submit lolcats (and other ‘lolanimals’) - unless you’ve been living under a rock in the blogosphere. And gosh they do have so many cute animals, and I do enjoy the captions most of the time. But what I hate hate hate is lolspeak! I don’t know who had the retarded idea to spell everything wrong and that somehow that would make the pictures funnier or cuter. Mostly it makes them harder to read and annoying. Granted, I can usually deal with a caption of a few words in lolspeak, but you should try reading the comments on that site, I can just feel my brain cells slowly dying, as - you guessed it - they are all in lolspeak.

You may wonder what prompted me to write this post. Well, this did …

lolspeak on flickr

This is what I saw when I logged into Flickr the other day. Seriously, Flickr? Seriously?

But yeah, I can’t deny it, the pictures are super-cute! And I have succumbed to adding Icanhascheezburger.com to my blogroll.

I just wish they would spell words properly, you know, because it is not like they don’t know how to. At least some of the people submitting pictures do. See?

And they’re still cuuute. And don’t cause headaches to read.

Counting down

May 24, 2008 at 1:22 am | In Life, Life in Spain | 4 Comments

18 days until I am done with finals.

21 days until I fly to Sevilla.

30 days until I turn 25 years old.

34 days until I move back to Germany.

38 days until I start my internship at the Amerika Haus.

135 days until I have classes again.

I only have a little over three weeks left in Barcelona (21 days before I leave for Sevilla and the two days between coming back from Granada and moving back to Munich). It does seem little but I think as long as I manage to finally visit Sitges, Girona, Figueres and Tarragona, I am okay. I am going to try to enjoy and make the most of my remaining time here [despite finals and papers] but I think I’m ready to go home in five weeks. I am very much looking forward to seeing my family and friends again.
