I moved on Monday night. Everything went well with the move and I am so happy to live in my new apartment. My roommates are very nice, I live with two girls, Anaïs (from France) and Nice (from Argentina). Jordi, the main tenant is hardly ever around so he doesn’t really count but he seems like a really nice guy as well. In a month, Nice is moving out so we [Anaïs and I] will have to find a new roommate then, hopefully we will make a good decision. I love my room and that I live so close to school! On Tuesday I went to IKEA with my roomie Anaïs, and got some things for my room that I still needed or wanted, and today I actually went there another time to get a couple more things. Now my room really feels like home!
One of the bad things about living in downtown Barcelona is the noise, and I often wake up early from the noise but I can deal with it, I have ear plugs that I have used once. They are doing some work on the facade of my house at the moment, and they start working early (around 8am), but I am sure I will get used to it and living right in the center of everything has many advantages as well.
By the way, I found out that I also have a balcony. I had no idea because there is a scaffold right outside the house and Anaïs didn’t tell me, but I opened my windows & shutters the other day and found out we have a balcony out there! The balcony is useless right now (because of the scaffolding, and there is lots of dirt on the balcony too), but I think they should be done in a few months (or so I hope), and it has gotten too cold to sit on the balcony anyway, but next spring and summer it will be amazing to be able to sit outside and enjoy the sun.
Since I moved I have also been feeling so much better. I have been socializing more again and enjoying it very much. Wednesday Carmen and Anna came here and we cooked an amazing dinner and had a really great evening. Thursday I met up for drinks with a few people from my German class (did I mention I am taking a German class, “Holocaust and Literature”, just out of interest in the topic, as you all probably know I do not study German) which was fun.
Tonight I actually spent with cleaning the kitchen, it is my turn this week and I decided to do it very thoroughly and cleaned all of the cupboards and the fridge as well. There was loads of expired food from long-gone roommates, so I threw out a lot and now we have some more space in the cupboards again.
Well, so much for text, on to the pictures! Allow me to show you around mi habitación [my room] and el piso [the apartment] a bit. :)

My bed and nightstand. The posters on the wall are all from IKEA. For some reason [an error in the system I believe] I only paid €.99 for the red one. As you can see I have an extra mattress for visitors which is great.

My desk and shelf. And another poster from IKEA, it goes so well with the color of the wall.

Pink overload! My little dresser / commode and mirror and part of the closet and of the desk. The curtains are Anaïs’ but I have bought the same ones as I think they look really great, so whenever Jordi is here again he will help us put Anaïs’ curtains up in her room and mine up in mine.

The door and my closet. I also got a fan for the summer (my towels are so “decoratively” thrown over it, okay, so really I just have nowhere else to put them). The green door leads to the hallway, the pink one to Anaïs’ room, though we don’t use it.

The lamp in my room. Love the stucco detail on the ceiling.

The apartment door and the food shelf which is one huge mess. We need to re-organize it, also because we need to re-allot space for everyone as Nice is currently taking up over half of the shelves.

The living room. The red door behind which you can see a blue-tiled wall leads to the toilet (which is separate from the bathroom here). Very odd to have to walk through the living room to get to the toilet but what can you do. At least when someone is taking a shower they are not hogging the toilet at the same time.

We got stucco ceilings in our apartment!

The kitchen. Unfortunately we do not have an oven and the microwave doesn’t work but hopefully we will get a new one soon. Other than that, the kitchen is fine, with a newly cleaned fridge now, hehe [the fridge is behind the door on the other side so you cannot see it].

The hallway with Nice’s room on the left, and Anaïs’ and Jordi’s rooms on the right. The door at the end of the hallway leads to the bathroom.

The door to my room & the apartment door. We have a camera at the building entrance so we can see who’s ringing the doorbell, pretty neat. (And errrm, fun for playing tricks on passersby. ;x)
Now a couple more pictures from the past few days …
