No time, no time
Posted by Viviane in Family, Friends, Photo, Running, School, Travel, WorkTime has been flying like crazy. It has been nearly three weeks since my last update, and I am already in Munich, and actually leaving for London tomorrow.
My last few days in Heidelberg were filled with packing and hanging out with my friends. I managed to hang out with most of my friends before I left, and it was great spending time with them, as it will be a while till I can do that again. My farewell party was moved to a different location, and we “just” had dinner at Mandy’s but that as fabulous, the food was awesome and we all had a great time. I actually liked how my farewell dinner took place at what is probably my favorite restaurant in Heidelberg.
I had my last day at work on Wednesday and I spent about an hour saying goodbye to all of my co-workers. It was kind of sad to leave. I guess I am lucky I have a job and co-workers I am actually sad to leave, and that I will hopefully be able to get the job back when I move back to Heidelberg. My supervisor gave me a University of Heidelberg mug as a present which was really sweet. I use it here in Munich to keep all my pens in it now.
I am not sure if I wrote about it already but I extended my stay at UB. I am now definitely staying until July 2008 (unless something comes up that requires me to return to Germany earlier). I had some trouble extending as my university here needed a confirmation from UB and all the people at the International Office at UB are on vacation right now, but now the lady at the International Office here is really nice and she told me they would just pretend they already have the confirmation and I would be able to hand it in late when I get it in September. The reason I had to rush about doing this is that I found out that if I extended late I would probably not receive any Erasmus money during the second semester and as we were told that we would get around €120 that would make a difference of about €500.
Well, I got to Munich on Thursday; my brother and Tatjana picked me up. I have already settled in, unpacked all my stuff and put it away (quite the challenge because I still have so many old things in my room that it was already cluttered without all the stuff I brought from Heidelberg). Last night I was at a friend’s birthday party and saw a few girls I went to high school with again, and it was nice. Afterwards I went by my brother’s and we watched Wallace and Gromit - The Curse of the Wererabbit which was a really funny and cute movie.
Tomorrow I am leaving for London for my Shakespeare excursion. I am pretty excited about finally traveling to London again, it’s been a few years since my last visit and it will be my first since I turned 18 (the last time I was there was actually a couple of weeks before I turned 18). Hopefully the weather will be decent though it can hardly be worse than it is here, and I will have a good time. A lot of activities are excursion-related but we do have some free-time for us to do other things. I also hope to befriend Will S. during my trip, would be helpful for an English major.
By the way, losing weight has been going great. I lost about 5kg (10lbs) within 4 weeks so far. I am very happy about this accomplishment. Running has not been going so well. I twisted my ankle on my way to work a little over two weeks ago and have had to take a break. I wanted to start running again this week but I have been too busy and today it has been raining badly all day so I could not get myself to go running. I will definitely start running again when I come back from London. I never meant for this break to turn into a three-week break but I guess as long as I start running again and get on with the program it’s all good.
So I will write again when I am back from London. Hope you all have a great weekend & week and I promise I will post pictures once I am back from the UK!
