I am half-way done with finals. I took one on Wednesday and one on Thursday. Both went well I think; I will probably find out about my grades next week. I will not blab on about what grades I expect, don’t wanna jinx it. On Wednesday I am taking my Italian and Spanish finals, which sucks. Both language finals on the same day is about as bad as they could have scheduled finals for me. But I will just focus on Spanish and if I pass Italian as well, that’s good. If not, it doesn’t matter, because I only took that class voluntarily anyway.

Yesterday I put together my schedule for next semester, and while I will not be as busy as this semester, I will still be busy. I will probably take:

• Italian (Advanced Level) - Mon 11:15-13:15, Tue 14:00-16:00, Wed 10:45-12:45
• HS Lit: Migración y espacios fronterizos en las literaturas mexicana y chicana (Migration and border lands in the mexicana and chicana literatures) - Tue 18:1-19:45
• PS/CS Lit: Border Theories - Thu 11:15-12:45
• PS/CS Lit: American Identities in Transit:Tace, Ethnicities and Global Networks in the 20th century - Thu 16:16-17:45
• Gramática para avanzados (Grammar for advanced students) - Thu 18:45-20:15
• Leslie Marmon Silko’s Almanac of the Dead - Migrating Bodies and Cultures in the Americas - Fri 11:15-12:45

HS = Hauptseminar, PS = Proseminar, CS = Cultural Studies.

All but the HS Lit are voluntary classes that I am not going to get credit for, but that’s okay. During the semester I will have the same workload as everyone else, but I won’t have to write any termpapers, which is the worst part of taking a class, if you ask me. I am not really sure if I am actually going to take the Gramática para Avanzados course, as I would get home really late on Thursdays and I work early on Fridays, but I have not yet decided for sure.

I’ll probably be working on five days a week, though never more than 2.5 hours at a time, so i isn’t actually as much as you’d think.
Tue 16:30-18:00, Wed 08:30-10:30, Thu 13:30-16:00, Fri 08:30-11:00, Sat 10:00-12:00. Tuesday and Thursday I would be working inbetween classes which is nice because I won’t have to sit around but I can do something productive and make money.

Anyway, on to other topics:

On Thursday the publication date for the last Harry Potter book was announced. I found out at work, as we got an e-mail from the German publisher that will be selling the English version here. It will come out on July 21st. Sooner than I expected, but all the better! I am so excited and cannot wait to read it. It comes out exactly four weeks after my birthday…

Well, enough of that for now. Earlier this week, I had some pictures printed from the recent months, and put them up on my magnetic wall above my desk. It looks really pretty now, and whenever I look up I can see all my friends and family. I also had a picture of J.J. printed out in 20×30cm, and framed it to put it up on the wall at my desk. I also bought three books, two vocabulary books (one for Spanish and one for Italian) because I need to broaden my vocab horizons, and one for pleasure reading, The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón (I bought it in German). I won’t actually be able to get started on that for a while though; I have had to put all my reading on hold until I get done with the reading for school and finals.

By the way, I have created a photoblog: fotovived. I have posted a bunch of my favorite pictures there. Nothing new as of now (though you may not have seen some anyway), but if you want, check it out and please leave me a comment , if you like a picture.

Well, so much for a public post. I have really not had that much going on besides school and work. I will write another (protected) post now about some things I don’t want the entire world reading about.
