I meant to update my blog earlier than now but I didn’t get around to it. Now we are already three days into 2007, so this is late, but better late than never, right?

Happy New Year!

I hope you all got to celebrate the new year and have lots of fun! I had fondue with some friends at my house which was so good. We also played a card game and did Bleigießen. For midnight we went downtown to the Theresienwiese (that is where the Oktoberfest takes place in the fall), and watched the fireworks. It was a really good place to be as we had a great view.

But right now, I am actually going to go back to last year, and start where I left off…

Thursday last week, we went bowling, which was loads of fun. We played four games, and my brother won every single one of them. No surprise there, as he is the only one of us, who goes regularly. I think, I want to try and go bowling more often as well, as I really enjoyed it.

Me and Tina ♥Friday I went to see Babel with Julia and Tina. Good movie. I liked how the different stories were all interconnected, and I really liked the portrayal of the characters; it was very un-Hollywood, deeper and more real. I also liked how they kept all the original languages and just subtitled them.

Saturday I went to Passau with Tina. We spent the afternoon walking around the very cold and foggy city, visiting the Dome, and walking along the Inn. Later that night we went out for dinner to Tina’s favorite Italian restaurant and had a really good time. Sunday we walked around the campus of the University of Passau, and then left to go back to Munich. Sunday was still a little foggy but very sunny and that actually made for some great pictures. (You can click on the pictures to see bigger versions and here for the entire set.)

Doing a puzzle with LinusSunday afternoon my relatives came to visit: my uncle, aunt, cousin, her husband and their son Linus. They literally arrived seconds after I did. We had coffee & cake and I spent some time playing with Linus, who is now 2 years old. He has grown up so much this past year! I wish I could see him more often, especially now, because kids at this age are really sweet, they already talk a little, and they are social, and very outgoing (to me anyway).

Sunday evening, New Year’s Eve, my friends came and we had hat fondue, etc. As you can tell, I hardly had time to breathe on Sunday, as I left to pick up my friends at the station five minutes after my relatives left. It all worked out perfectly, but it was still a bit stressful.

Monday, I actually did nothing at all. I watched TV and DVDs and spent most of the day chilling on the couch. Every once in a while, a lazy couch potato day is fun!

Richard, Arthur & ChristinaMe, Arthur & RichardTuesday, I met up with my sister and her two kids. We went to the Hunting & Fishing Museum, and it was really great. I finally got to meet my nephews, and see my sister again after over 10 years! We are actually going to get together tomorrow again, and go to the BMW Museum. My nephews are both sweet and we got along really well, but it is strange to see how grown up they already are. I am very happy, we are back in touch and that I get to see them, but at the same time I am sad that I missed out on so much of their lives. I really like having that part of my family back, and that I get to see my sister again. During one conversation I was talking about my mom, out of habit, and one of my nephews asked, “is that my mom’s mom as well?”. Christina and I both are used to referring to her as “my mom”, when really it is the same person, “our mom”.

Richard & ArthurAfter Christina and the kids left to go home, I stayed downtown and went shopping for a while. I got three DVDs (Ocean’s Eleven, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (2-disc edition), Message in a Bottle) for a total of about €25, which is a really good deal if you ask me. I also got a new purse. I wanted to have a black big one, and it took me some time to finally find one that I liked.

Today I met up with Susi for lunch. We had lunch at the BR building downtown during her lunch break, and chatted for an hour. It was really nice to get to see her while I am here. Her internship ends in February, so this was the last time we could just meet up like that. After lunch I went to give blood, and on the way home stopped by a store, and got the Hable con Ella DVD. It is a good movie and it was on sale, and since I need to watch more movies in Spanish, I couldn’t pass it up.

Tomorrow I am going to the BMW museum with Christina, and Friday my friends and I are having raclette at Sylvia’s house. Love raclette. I love how social raclette and fondue are, it’s a really fun idea of having dinner with friends.

Sunday I am going back to Heidelberg, and before that, I want to hang out with Lejla and Eva-Maria and with Eva as well. I hope I can fit it all into my schedule, as I won’t be back here until mid-March.

That was a good little recount! Lucky, I read your LJ blogs too, so I am up to date. Go me!

Lucky you, you got to see more pictures. ;) I have been cross-posting a lot of entries in the past weeks, but not this past week, because there has been a lot to tell, and I did not want to be lazy and just copy & paste all those entries.

    Frohes neues Jahr !!!

Oh wow sounds like you kept busy these past weeks! That couch potatoe day was very well deserved! ;-) Good to hear that you and your sister reconnected. It always makes me so sad to hear about estranged families - so yay! :)
Happy New Year and I hope 2007 will be grand!

@ Sanna It made me sad too, and still does, because I still do not have contact with a few more members of my family, but I’m working on it. I want to get back in touch with my grandmother and aunt sometime as well, but right now I want to take it slow, and not do everything at once. It is kind of overwhelming as it is.

Wow, you did a lot over the holidays. That would have worn me out so much… but at least you had a lazy day on the couch. Those are the best!!!! Anyways, happy new year!!!! I know I am late!

@ Stefanie Thanks. I did do a lot, but it was fun at the same time, and I love seeing all my friends when I am home, so it definitely is worth it. Happy new year to you too. No worries, I know you had better things to do in Venice than read other people’s blogs. ;)
