I love fortune cookies, not for the cookie itself but for the message. The cookie tastes alright, but that little piece of paper is like a Chinese Kinder Surprise.
Fortune cookies remind me of the time that I lived in Norman, OK. Johanna - my roommate and friend - and I used to order Chinese regularly, and we always got two or three fortune cookies along with our order.
I remember once receiving one that said something along the lines of You will travel a lot. This actually came true because during that year I was lucky and got to visit San Francisco, Boston, New York City, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. The other amazing thing about this fortune cookie was that two of the lucky numbers it gave me were 6 and 23. What is so special about those numbers, you may think. My birthday is on June 23rd.
I do not believe in fortune cookies, but I do love coincidences like that one. That is the reason I kept this fortune. Eventually, it will make its way into a photo album that I want to create as a memory of this adventure.
Speaking of San Francisco - while I was there I visited a fortune cookie factory in Chinatown, and got to see how fortune cookies are made.
Fortune cookies remind me of a very happy time and great experience in my life. And coincidentially my username on a forum for Germans to discuss anything pertaining to life in the US is Fortune Cookie.

Lovely post! San Francisco fortune cookies are the best (I lived there seven years and miss it still). And that’s ironic that your user name is “Fortune Cookie.” :)
Nice! You reminded me how much I love San Fran!
Great post. I have been to San Francisco so many times, and have never been to the factory where they make Fortune Cookies. I need to take my son there!
Just wanted to say hi! What a beautiful post. Fortune cookies always remind me of San Francisco! I love that city and when I was an au pair there we went out for Chinese so often. Happy memories!
Ah, I love San Francisco…and I love fortunes that manage to come true. :) And this is the perfect prompt for you considering your user name!

Aww, it’s so nice that fortune cookies remind you of happy times. That’s just the way it should be. :-)
I love coincidences…and fortune cookies. By the way, have you heard of the fortune that read “help, I’m stuck in a fortune cookie factory?”
I wrote my piece before I came to read any of the posts, and yours is the first Fortune Cookie piece I’ve read. Mine was in the San Francisco area too. I like your pictures!
