Friday was great fun. I met with Lejla and Eva and we went out and caught up on what we’ve all been up to in the past years. It is really interesting to see what we are doing now - we have all gone quite different directions, and while we have all grown up, we are still a lot the same. We are still unique in our own ways, and there are just these things that haven’t changed. I hope we get a chance to hang out again sometime soon. Maybe when I come back from Spain but hopefully around Christmas at the latest.
Saturday I went to the mall with my dad and we picked up my new glasses and browsed through books at Hugendubel for a while.
Yesterday I finally got started on my termpaper. I am done with all pages except for the actual text, haha. I haven’t yet done too much reading on the topic so I’ll have to do that first and then start writing. I hope I can get done by Saturday. I know I could, if only I could get myself to start writing already.
Today Tina and I went downtown and we got a birthday present for Susi, whose birthday it is today, and her party is on Friday. We found something pretty, and I also got something pretty for myself: a new watch and a new hat. I tried not spending too much and I think I did okay, though I have spent a lot of money in the past few days. I ordered Gilmore Girls Seasons 2 and 3 on DVD and the DVD of Crash. I think I am done spending money for a while now.
I finally made a doctor’s appointment for myself for Wednesday morning, which I had been meaning to do since I came here. Wednesday evening I will watch Thank You for Smoking with Julia and Friday is Susi’s party so I will be in Augsburg for most of the day. I still have some more things to do before I leave on Sunday but I should be okay.
Very excited about going to Spain. Only six more days now!!!
By the way, I was looking at the counter for my site, and there are so many visitors that I have no idea who they are. So if you are reading this, I would love if you left me a comment every now and then. I don’t mind anyone reading this, I am just curious. :)
When I was little, I once had a dream … it must have been a dream for it could not have possibly been reality, no matter how real it seemed at the time. Some of the happenings are a blur to me now, but I will try my best to put back together the puzzle pieces.
I dreamed that I woke up in the middle of the night. I went to the bathroom through the dark apartment. Then we were still living in our apartment in Munich where you had to cross the dining hall, and walk down the hallway towards the apartment door to get to the bathroom. I found keys lying on the floor and naturally I picked them up. At that moment, an alarm started ringing. I looked up and a huntsman was at the other end of the hallway, with a rifle, sitting on an elephant. The keys belonged to him, that was clear. Although I had not planned to take them and keep them, he came closer quickly riding his elephant, with the rifle. I was scared and quickly ran to my parents’ bedroom. I made it there safely.
To this day I do not know if I was sleepwalking or whether I ever even left my bed that night. The one thing I do know is that there was no elephant in our hallway.
I have found a plugin which makes it possible to integrate pictures uploaded to Flickr into Wordpress, so the “Photos” link in the navigation will now lead you to an overview of my photos on my site. I love how you can now see my (public) pictures without having to navigate away from this site.
If you want to see a lot of pictures within one album, the slideshow might be your best option, as I had to delete the navigation under each photo due to a bug.
I have adapted the code to match my layout so if you find any bugs, please let me know. To view private pictures, you will still have to go through my Flickr page. If any of you have a Flickr account and would like to be added to my contacts, just drop me a comment.
I am very happy this works because the photo pages now look exactly like the blog pages. Anything that will make my homepage more appealing to the eye is great.
By the way, all you Wordpress people out there might want to know which plugin I am using: http://tantannoodles.com/toolkit/photo-album/.
On Tuesday I picked out new glasses. I ended up getting a very light frame and consequently my parents agreed on getting the superthin lenses (40% thinner than the regular ones) because it would just look better. Since I am near-sighted the lenses are thicker on the outside, and that doesn’t go too well with a light frame. The glasses turned out a lot more expensive than my parents and I had planned, but they were okay with it, and the glasses look good, so I think it’ll be worth it.
Last night Julia, Sylvia and I went to the Wasserwerk, “our” bar, and had a pretty fun night. I had a Tropical Melone (vodka cocktail), and it was very good. They have redecorated a little at the Wasserwerk, but not too much, so it still looks a lot the same. Here is a picture of us outside the bar, and one I took of Julia’s coktail (she had a Swimming Pool), which I think looks kind of cool.
Sylvia is going on vacation on Sunday, so I hope we will get to hang out after I get back from Spain.
Eva and Tanja are also currently on vacation, so I haven’t been able to hang out with them.Tonight I am going out with Lejla and Eva who I haven’t seen in years, and I am pretty excited. I wonder how much they have changed - I know I have, too.
Next week Susi from Augsburg is celebrating her birthday, so I will be going there on Friday, and I also want to meet up with Susi from Amberg sometime that week, so I will have to see when that works out. I have a whole list of things to do next week, and I sure will be busy. A lot are just small errands though, thankfully, so I should be able to get a lot done in one day.
On Wednesday I went downtown. I gave blood and made some bargain purchases. I bought a pair of flip flops that was 70% off (now €2.97), a pair of earrings (€2.90) and sunglasses (€5.90). I also took a bunch of pictures of downtown Munich. I think, most people do not really pay attention to the beauty of this city. We all live here - it’s nothing special, just our every-day sourroundings. But when I am downtown with my camera I pay a lot more attention to the city, and I realize how gorgeous it is and it makes me so proud that Munich is my hometown.
These are the Neuhauser St [the street where all the stores are] with one of the towers of Our Lady’s Church in the background, and Karlsplatz/Stachus with the Palace of Justice in the background.
These are two pictures I took last week around Odeonsplatz when I went to the Bavarian State Library. The first is a statue of Louis I. on Ludwigsstr. (Louis St) and I just love the colors of the picture and the flowers in the foreground, and the second is of the interior of my (probably) favorite church in Munich, Theatiner Church at Odeonsplatz.
This one is one of the newly renovated restroom at the department store Karstadt Oberpollinger. I just liked how the mirrors kept reflecting each other to infinity.
It took me until now to find out how the “More” tag works, so I thought I’d write an entry and put it to use. (I don’t know why it took me so long, I guess I never really took a closer look at the quicktags menu.)
I have picked out my classes that I will be taking this upcoming semester, and now that I know I passed all my classes (except for one but I can re-take the exam in October and I assume I will pass), it is set. There is one class I will only be able to take if I finish this damn termpaper in time before the semester starts.
I’ll be taking two classes for my English major and four for my Spanish major, totaling at 18 hours a week.
