I am really not the type of person who would make fun of another German’s English, but in this case I just had to… A German guy on MySpace wrote in his About Me section:
im a german man from kaiserslautern….(K-town-germany) when u lick a contackt whit me tell me over my yahoo add xyz .or icq 123 ok see yaaa holla back!:-) im so 1,90 big
Hah. Lick a contact? Yeah, whatever, but maybe someone should inform him that big is only used in conjunction with certain body parts, because no way is this guy 1.90m big!!! Haha… But he sure got the ghetto slang down. Holla back! *insert eye roll*
And to make up for this spitefulness towards a fellow German, I am also going to make fun of the German language. This goes into the category of “What the hell were they thinking?” Would you like to live in a town called Mückenloch (mosquito hole) or Eiterbach (pus creek)? Yeah, me neither… but apparently some people do live there, because they are destinations of two bus lines here.
And then there is this town in Austria called Fucking, but that’s an old one…

Last night I saw Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and I loved it! The scene where the island people try to roast Jack and he runs made me laugh so much I had tears in my eyes! That doesn’t happen too often.
I also loved this scene:
Marty: [looking at the cloth] It’s a key!
Jack Sparrow: No! Much more better. It is a drawing of a key. Gentlemen, what do keys do?
Marty: Keys… unlock… things?
Gibbs: And whatever this key unlocks, inside there’s something valuable. So, we’re setting out to find whatever this key unlocks.
Jack Sparrow: No! If we don’t have the key, we can’t open whatever it is we don’t have that it unlocks. So what purpose would be served in finding whatever need be unlocked, which we don’t have, without first having found the key what unlocks it?
Gibbs: So… we’re going after this key?
Jack Sparrow: You’re not making any sense at all.
I think it is a lot funnier for students who have taken linguistics classes, haha, if you have, I think you’ll get what I mean. (Or actually, if you are familiar with René Magritte’s paintings - my favorite painter - you’ll get it ,too.)
Today I went shopping after work. Bought some underwear and a pretty dress. You can see the upper half of the dress in the picture on the right.
I had already bought some jewelry at Claire’s yesterday, I just get the shopping bug every now and then. I will try to be good now for the rest of August!
By the way, I found out my grade on the final I mentioned. I am not one of the three or four who didn’t do so well, after all. I got a 1.3 (A) and I couldn’t be happier! Even though I owe that grade to how easy the class was, it is still a great grade and it will bring my GPA up (it is part of the intermediate examination which all students take after 2-3 years in their majors).
