I can join Gamma Beta Phi! I e-mailed them and asked about it because their site said that students who graduate this semester can join as well (I don’t graduate but in both situations I wouldn’t be a student any more). They e-mailed me back saying…
No, you are welcome to join. We’d love to have you. You can add a different perspective to the organization. Gamma Beta Phi is an old and very well known honor society. It is a great academic achievement on your part to be invited as the invitation only goes out to those students who have GPAs in the upper 20%. We do so many outstanding service activities for those less fortunate. You will receive a certificate and be listed on the National Register for Gamma Beta Phi. It is very positive to have this on your applications and resumes when applying for awards, honors, and jobs.
So even though it does cost $60 I think it’ll be worth it. I got some resume tuning to do anyway, and that would help quite a bit. I also talked to my parents about it and they also think I should do it. I won’t really be able to be an active member of Gamma Beta Phi but it will look really good on my resume. Especially because I can very well imagine working in the US someday.
Well, today I watched Lemony Snicket’s Series of Unfortunate Events at the uni theater and that movie was cool, a little weird, but still cool. Some of the ideas were very good, the framework story, really great!
When I got home I cleaned my room (finally sorted through my two drawers again, have to do that every now and then), so now everything is all neat and tidy.
Yesterday we got our Italian tests back and I got a 98 which I’m really happy about. The mistakes I made were stupid though, so I should have gotten a 100 if I had been more careful, but oh well. An 98 isn’t really a grade to complain about ;)
